Dalkey Archive Translators at the Bridge

This month’s Bridge Series will, for the first time ever, feature translators from a single publishing house: Dalkey Archive, which has been specializing in literature of a certain sort since the 1980s. One might define this “sort” as: the sort of books Harry Matthews enjoys reading, though he isn’t the one responsible for their list (he’s just on it). In other words, they publish experimental fiction, mostly by men, with a lot of international authors represented. And now four of Dalkey’s translators – Todd Hasak-Lowy, Mary Ann Newman, Burton Pike, and Damion Searls – will assemble to talk about the books they contributed to Dalkey’s National Literatures Series. Dalkey author Joshua Cohen moderates.

This installment of The Bridge is being sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs, Consulate General of Israel in New York and will be held at the series’s usual location: McNally Jackson Books, at 52 Prince Street (between Lafayette & Mulberry). Monday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m.
